Journey of Hope: A Road Trip Devotion Series

Embarking on a journey can often illuminate the path of life in unexpected ways. I recently took a road trip for my job and documented my thoughts as I reflected on the journey of life through Scripture. As I neared my final destination of Findlay, Ohio, I found myself reflecting deeply on our "final destination." It's in these moments of contemplation that I draw closer to the core of faith that guides my journey in life, much like this trip.

I'd like to invite you to join me on that video journey through a 12-segment series that I've titled, "Road Trip: Drive Time Devotions". Each short segment will lead into the next so you can watch anywhere and return later, as needed. As I navigated through familiar landscapes, it dawned on me how often people wrestle with questions about the divine—"Is God real?" "Did Jesus truly walk the earth?"—and the complexities of faith, the Holy Spirit, and creation itself. I can empathize with the struggle, but my travels reaffirm something that countless experiences have taught me: chaos alone cannot bring forth order. Whether we speak of the Big Bang or evolution, I find that faith in Jesus Christ and a creator who intricately fashioned everything resonates more profoundly.

Driving through this familiar place, witnessing the beauty that surrounds—the soybeans, the trees, the vast blue skies, and the people—all speak to the divine order and precision of life. The human body's miraculous ability to maintain balance, irrespective of varied diets and environments, reaffirms this belief in a creator.

If there is indeed a creator, I hold firm to the narrative of the Garden of Eden, of man and woman crafted with a divine blueprint. As I think of Adam and Eve, I can't help but ponder the impact of their choices. Yet, knowing our nature, would I have fared any better? We're all flawed, yet saved by grace—a testament to the immeasurable love that sent His son to redeem us.

Here, I'd like to draw from John 14:2-3: "My father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me, that you also may be where I am." As I reach my physical destination, these verses beautifully parallel our spiritual journey toward our ultimate home.

Life, like this road trip, is filled with breathtaking beauty and challenges. I cherish my life, the opportunity to serve God and others, and the joy found in each moment, even amidst adversity. Our journey is about more than the here and now; it's about that final destination on life's road.

I hope you're navigating your own journey towards this sacred destination, keeping God's word close to uplift you during life's trials. "If I go and prepare a place for you," He promises, "I will come back and take you to be with me. " This embodies the core of divine desire—for us to be united with Him.
